Join the ServSafe Dining Commitment
The National Restaurant Association and ServSafe just launched the new, nationwide ServSafe Dining Commitment, a program that allows operators to showcase their ongoing commitment to the health and safety of their employees and guests.
Through this voluntary program, operators commit to following four best practices that are effective means to reduce the spread of COVID-19 as guests and employees return to on-premises dining:
- Adherence to the National Restaurant Association Reopening Guidance and/or corporate brand guidelines, which are based on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and U.S. Food & Drug Administration guidelines.
- Adherence to the coronavirus-based laws and guidelines set by their state and local municipalities.
- Commitment to a minimum of one person per location with a current ServSafe Food Protection Manager certification.
- Commitment to ensuring employees have been trained in ServSafe Food Handler courses and have gone through the ServSafe COVID-19 Reopening training.
Restaurants ready to make the commitment can go to ServSafeCommit.org. They’ll need their employees’ ServSafe certification information (name and achievement number) to begin the process.
In committing to the best practices, participating operators qualify to receive a tool kit that includes a ServSafe Dining Commitment logo they can display in door decals, on menus, in marketing materials and through social media and advertising campaigns.
Customers will start seeing these ServSafe Dining Commitment logos at participating restaurants later this summer.
Making the ServSafe Dining Commitment is a powerful way to let returning customers that the operation is following recommended reopening guidance and is ready for business.
“We created the ServSafe Dining Commitment for operators to reassure customers that they’re taking defined steps to keep diners and the restaurant’s employees safe,” said Sherman Brown, executive vice president, Training and Certification for the Association. “We encourage the entire restaurant and foodservice community to join us in welcoming diners back to their dining rooms with the peace of mind that their restaurant adheres to enhanced cleaning and sanitation protocols that are recommended in the ServSafe Dining Commitment.”
Encourage customers to follow participating restaurants on social media by searching for #ServSafeCommit.
