ServSafe COVID-19 Free Training Suite Updated

Chicago – Today ServSafe® and the National Restaurant Association released an update to its free suite of COVID-19 training modules. The new video, ServSafe Operating Guidance: COVID-19 Precautions, combines content from original COVID-19 Delivery, Takeout, and Reopening modules and includes updated best practices from the latest COVID-19 Operating Guidance

The training video covers:

  • Encouraging vaccinations for employees
  • Best practices on indoor dining, ventilation, mask use, and social distancing
  • Guidelines for hand washing, health monitoring and testing, and policies for ill or exposed employees
  • Operational guidelines for cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting
  • COVID-19 safety procedures for pickup and delivery

Upon completion of the course, users can download a Record of Training PDF that can be saved or printed. The videos are available in English and Spanish.

“This new video streamlines COVID-19 operating best practices into a single training video to help our employees and managers more effectively access the information,” said Sherman Brown, executive vice president of Training and Certification for the National Restaurant Association. “When used in conjunction with our latest COVID-19 Operating Guidance, operators and our workforce can efficiently implement the safety guidelines and understand how to limit risk for guests and staff.”

ServSafe and the National Restaurant Association were the first organizations to provide COVID-19 operating guidance and training specifically for the restaurant industry. More than 1.4 million people have taken COVID-19 Precautions courses since the Takeout and Delivery courses launched in March 2020.

“Since the beginning of the pandemic, ServSafe has worked to ensure that the industry workforce has the training and skills needed to keep themselves and our customers healthy,” said Brown. “In the last year, the National Restaurant Association has provided more than $19.6 million worth of free training courses including our signature training for ServSafe Food Handler, ServSuccess, and the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute.”
