In the restaurant industry, there’s a seat at the table for everyone

MFHA Founder Gerry Fernandez will host the podcast. He and his guests will share practical, actionable advice on how to communicate effectively with people from multicultural backgrounds.

The Multicultural Foodservice & Hospitality Alliance and the National Restaurant Association are joining forces to present “A Seat at the Table,” a new podcast focused on diversity that gives everyone a better understanding of the benefits of cultural intelligence and inclusion, and the damage of conscious and unconscious bias.

Hosted by MFHA Founder and President Gerry Fernandez, the podcast debuts Sept. 15. Episodes will make the business case for embracing diversity in the workplace and explain why it’s beneficial to both employees and the bottom line.

Upcoming episodes explore first-hand accounts of racial bias and the solutions necessary to change biased behavior. Topics scheduled include:

• Anti-racism behavior for business
• A call to action for diversity and inclusion
• Insights from Black leadership perspectives

Fernandez and his guests will share practical, actionable advice on how to communicate effectively with people from multicultural backgrounds.

“People of multicultural backgrounds make up the majority of the foodservice industry, yet few have a voice in the boardroom,” Fernandez said.

The first episode features Dr. Sandra Upton, vice president of educational initiatives at the Cultural Intelligence Center. She’ll talk about The Importance of Cultural Intelligence and Why We Need to Understand it and will include insights on training, policy, and hiring.
