The National Restaurant Association and its affiliated organizations are committed to analyzing the guidance from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and various state and local authorities to determine the prevailing level of safeguards for the health and welfare of attendees, exhibitors, partners, and team members at external, in-person events.

In keeping with the current guidance from the CDC, the State of Illinois, and the City of Chicago regarding large gatherings in areas with low levels of COVID-19, the National Restaurant Association is withdrawing the requirement of proof of vaccination or negative COVID test for our Chicago based in-person events occurring in May 2022. This includes the Marketing Executives Group (MEG) Conference, Supply Chain Expert Exchange Spring Conference, the Board Leadership Summit, and the Military Foodservice Training & Awards Program scheduled to take place in Chicago in May 2022.

With respect to masks, the National Restaurant Association continues to follow CDC guidance and, as of the date set forth above, will not require masks to be worn by individuals attending our Chicago May 2022 events; however, everyone is welcome to make their own decision and wear a mask if they so desire. CDC guidance on quarantine or isolation for anyone who may be exposed to COVID-19 should be strictly followed as well.

The National Restaurant Association intends to continue to provide a safe environment for those attending our in-person events and will review and update our protocols when necessary and reserve the right to make changes as appropriate.

All registrants, guests, and staff for the National ProStart Invitational held May 6-8 in Washington, DC, will be required to:
  • Be fully vaccinated as specified by the CDC (with full vaccination completed at least two weeks before the event) against COVID-19.
  • Or provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test (PCR or Rapid Antigen) taken within 72 hours of arrival at the event.
After registering for the meeting or event, you will receive an email instructing you how to upload your proof of vaccination or recent negative test with our third-party service provider, CrowdPass. To maintain the health and safety of our staff, we WILL NOT be able to verify vaccine or testing status in person at the event. All attendees must have verified their status through the service provider.

The Organizations will also require registrants to accept an Event Acknowledgment Waiver and Release (COVID and Likeness) at the same time as the vaccine or testing information upload process and to comply with all state or local health or mask mandates in place for the event location.

For those who are not able to comply with this Policy, we will notify you if an opportunity for virtual attendance and/or participation at the event will be offered.
