California Restaurant Association rolls out grant plan for fire victims
Foundation kicks off program with $100K donation, but more is needed.
As wildfires continue to sweep across the Los Angeles area, Restaurants Care, the signature fundraising program of the California Restaurant Foundation, opened its Los Angeles Fires 2025 Relief Grant initiative Jan. 14.
With an initial commitment of $100,000, the CRF is aiming to provide members of the foodservice community displaced from their homes or jobs, with funds of up to $1,500 per recipient to help them with immediate needs.
“Through its most challenging times, from devastating natural disasters to the pandemic, Hollywood strikes, and everyday crises, Restaurants Care has stood by California’s restaurant community,” Foundation President Alycia Harshfield said. “When our community needs us most, we’re proud to support and uplift them with critical financial assistance to help get them back on their feet.”
The CRF is seeking donations from individuals and businesses looking to help the community. All funds will go directly to helping members of the Los Angeles restaurant community in need.

Applications available for as long as funding allows
According to Harshfield, the grant applications will be available for as long as funding allows. Priority will be given to industry employees ineligible for other types of assistance and those who’ve lost homes and jobs. The money can be used to cover essentials, such as temporary shelter, food, clothing and other basic needs.The CRF is seeking donations from individuals and businesses looking to help the community. All funds will go directly to helping members of the Los Angeles restaurant community in need.
More help is needed
“The LA Fires have deeply affected our restaurant community,” said Jot Condie, President & CEO of the California Restaurant Association, parent of the CRF. “This fund is going to help employees displaced and out of work because of the fires, but more is needed.
