As the new President & CEO of the National Restaurant Association and CEO of the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation, I thought it would be helpful to establish a regular communication to share my thoughts on issues we’re all facing and how the Association can best serve and support our members and our industry during this time.
As I spend time speaking with and listening to my colleagues across the restaurant and foodservice industry, it is clear to me that the speed and success of our recovery is linked closely with our ability to act as ONE: chains, independents, franchisees; the national and state restaurant associations; and suppliers and distributors.
I am a firm believer that our state restaurant association partnerships are key to delivering on the promise of our mission for a thriving restaurant and foodservice community. A significant benefit of our association model is that members of a state restaurant association are automatically members of the National Restaurant Association, regardless of size or restaurant type. Together with our state partners, we serve as a collaboration point and knowledge center to serve those who need it most, by providing them access to the National Restaurant Association’s tools, resources, and expert analysis.
As an organization, we are working to find new and different ways to communicate with and support all operators. One way we are doing this is through the Reopening Marketplace, a new member program designed to help operators obtain goods and services geared towards reopening safely and priced at an exclusive, member-only advantage. We also have a variety of on-demand webinars and articles addressing every part of the reopening process. As you are inviting guests back into your restaurants, we remain committed to serving you.
Across the Association and Foundation, each of our departments are reviewing all of their plans for the balance of the year to ensure they are focused on advancing the industry’s recovery, including strengthening current partnerships and working aggressively to cultivate new ones.
Together, we will revitalize and advance the industry.
