Degrees and area of study

Those interested in postsecondary education in the restaurant and hospitality industry have many opportunities, including associate, bachelor and post-graduate degrees. Formal certification programs also are available in several industry disciplines.

Areas of study include: culinary arts, baking and pastry, restaurant or foodservice management, and hospitality management.

Culinary and baking/pastry programs tend to be kitchen-focused, with instruction on food preparation and skills, whereas management programs concentrate on the business of running a restaurant, hotel or other hospitality operation.

Find a school or program through the following resources:

  • American Culinary Foundation Culinary schools accredited by ACF, plus information on available degrees and certification levels.
