FDA’s proposed voluntary sodium targets for restaurant foods

The FDA earlier this summer proposed voluntary sodium targets for 150 restaurants and processed foods. The agency says it wants to help Americans cut their sodium consumption from about 3,600 milligrams a day today to the recommended 2,300 milligrams within 10 years. Scaling back sodium content in restaurant foods is an important part of the equation, the agency says. The National Restaurant Association is preparing extensive comments as the FDA solicits feedback on the proposal. Join FDA officials for an overview and discussion of their approach.
