For anyone wondering about what the restaurant industry will look like in the future, our Signature ’19 keynote session, May 19, at the National Restaurant Association Show in Chicago, is going to have your answers.

The session, titled “The Future of Dining,” will consist of a conversation led by Association President and CEO Dawn Sweeney, with several CEOs from some of the most innovative companies in foodservice. Panelists include:

  • John Cywinski, president of casual-dining chain Applebee’s Bar& Grill
  • Randy Edeker, chairman, CEO and president of Midwestern supermarket chain Hy-Vee
  • Tim McEnery, CEO of casual-dining chain Cooper’s Hawk, and
  • Chris Gheysens, president and CEO of C-store chain Wawa

Each of the speakers will discuss how their companies are addressing changing consumer tastes and provide answers on where, what and how people will dine in the coming years.

“With the rapid changes happening today in foodservice, everyone – no matter what business they run – needs to know where the industry is headed and who the competition is,” said Mary Pat Heftman, president of the Restaurant Show Group. “Because of the growth of third-party delivery and the increase in prepared food options at C-stores and supermarkets, plus the incredible innovation taking place across all food outlets, there will be a big difference in what the dining landscape looks like.”

Heftman said Signature ’19 would offer attendees a rare glimpse into the future of foodservice and dining out. The conversation also will address disruptors and trends shaking up the industry.
