Here at the National Restaurant Association we're always thinking ahead, especially when it comes to sustainability and social responsibility. Whether it's reducing energy and water use or finding new ways to be good corporate citizens, the Association and its members are continually looking for ways to improve the quality of life for all we serve through partnerships with non-profits and campaigns to raise awareness for the good works that go on each and every day in our industry.

The restaurant industry is one of the most diverse industries in the country. It employs more minority managers than any other. It also is one of the most charitable industries in the United States. About nine of every 10 restaurants participates in charitable activities. To celebrate the industry's successes and the industry's role in improving the quality of life for all it serves, the National Restaurant Association presents the Faces of Diversity and Restaurant Neighbor Award programs.

The National Restaurant Association's Conserve initiative is designed to inspire actions that improve a company's bottom line, but also are good for people and the planet. Conserve explores conservation efforts being adopted by restaurants around the nation and offers suggestions and resources to help you reduce the cost of running your operation — both to your bottom line and the environment. Recycling for All the Right Returns

The National Restaurant Association, with support from Georgia-Pacific Professional, recently conducted surveys to identify current recycling practices of restaurants as well as consumer demands and perceptions as they relate to restaurants’ recycling practices.
