Last year, the National Restaurant Association (NRA) and the Texas Restaurant Association (TRA) joined together to pilot Freedom is Sweet!, a charitable campaign to support military veterans and their families through restaurant fundraisers and consumer-driven campaigns on and around Veteran’s Day.

All funds raised support Tee it up For the Troops, a non-profit organization dedicated to the needs of those who serve our country.

Freedom is Sweet” provides restaurant operators the opportunity to drive additional traffic based upon promotional opportunities associated with the charitable aspect of the program. Examples include:

  • Customer-funded contributions such as bounce-back coupons, paper hangs or donation cards
  • Donating a percentage of sales from Veteran's Day-related sales
  • Designating a specific menu item whose proceeds support Freedom is Sweet!
  • Creating a specialty drink or dessert
  • Make a donation off of gift card sales
  • Provide veterans with a free meal or dessert
