(Washington, D.C.) The National Restaurant Association today announced that Rosalyn “Roz” Mallet, president and CEO of PhaseNext Hospitality in Plano, Texas, was elected treasurer of the Board of Directors during the Association's Board meeting in the nation’s capital. Mallet will serve as treasurer until January 2011.
“We welcome Roz to her new leadership role and are confident in her abilities to help advance the National Restaurant Association and guide the restaurant industry into the future,” said Dawn Sweeney, President and CEO of the Association. “A great addition to an already strong leadership team, Roz’s expertise and innovative thinking is sure to spur new ideas on how to serve our members.”
The treasurer is a volunteer position held by a member of the Association's Board of Directors who is an exceptional leader in the restaurant industry. When electing officers, directors consider the individual's level of participation in Board activities, his or her leadership skills, stature and involvement in industry activities.
Mallet is currently changing her career track to move to the entrepreneurial side of business as President and CEO of PhaseNext Hospitality – a franchise operating company. PNH’s mission is to deliver fresh, high quality quick casual restaurant brands that meet the public’s ever-increasing demand for higher quality food, service, hospitality and convenience to airport concessions programs, and other non traditional venues.
She began serving on the National Restaurant Association’s Board of Directors in 2004, and is also a member of the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation Board of Trustees.
Mallet is a seasoned leader with extensive and diverse experience in enterprise strategy, turnarounds, transition planning, systems implementation, human capital development and franchise operations. She is recognized in the industry for her innovative approaches, financial and organizational development results, the ability to build sustainable talent pipelines and a commitment to impacting her industry and community.
Previously, as President and Interim CEO of Caribou Coffee (a publicly traded company), Mallet continued her track record of effectively implementing new strategic initiatives while balancing financial results, organizational and talent development to deliver shareholder value.
She has a comprehensive background in several restaurant segments, having worked in casual dining (Applebee’s and TGI Friday’s), quick casual (la Madeleine Bistro/Café) and quick service (Caribou). Her extensive general management experience includes overseeing all functional areas, with an emphasis on operations, portfolio management, human resources, franchise systems development and financial analysis.
Mallet also serves on the boards of Share Our Strength and People Report.
Also at the Association’s Board of Directors meeting, Michael Gibbons, president and CEO of Mainstreet Ventures, Inc., in Ann Arbor, Mich., was elected chairman; and Sally Smith, president and chief executive officer of Buffalo Wild Wings Grill and Bar, headquartered in Minneapolis, Minn., was elected vice chair.
