Hit the Links to Preserve Free Enterprise at Oct. 26-28 Richard E. Marriott SAFE Golf Invitational Sponsorships gain traction September 4, 2009 With less than a month to go, the National Restaurant Association's 13th annual Richard E. Marriott SAFE Golf Invitational still has slots open for registrants. Slots are still available for individual golfers and pairs at this year’s invitational, set for Oct. 26 through 28. The three-day event at the Marriott Sawgrass Golf Resort & Spa in Ponte Vedra, Fla., helps raise money for the National Restaurant Association's Save American Free Enterprise Fund. Participants will play Sawgrass Country Club and Dye's Valley Course at TPC Sawgrass, designed by legendary golf course architect Pete Dye. They will also play at Dye’s crown jewel, the Players Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass. That course also is the permanent home for The Players Championship, the PGA's "fifth" major tour. "Given the increasingly complex and difficult legislative and regulatory environment we are encountering, the need to support SAFE and participate in the Richard E. Marriott SAFE Golf Invitational has never been more important,” said David Goronkin, president and CEO of Bennigan's Franchising Company LLC and 2009-2010 SAFE Committee Chair. "Despite a very challenging economic climate, several prominent and respected companies are once again stepping up and providing industry leadership by financially supporting and participating in this year’s event,” said 2009 SAFE Golf Invitational Chair Steve Caldeira. "Clearly, participants continue to recognize the long-term value in networking with their fellow CEOs, purchasing executives and multi-unit franchise owners through this SAFE event." The 2009 event has raised more than $300,000 to date. Eagle Sponsors ($22,000, two players) include Brinker International, Coca-Cola, Diageo, Darden Restaurants, DineEquity, DIRECTV, Dunkin’ Brands and Ecolab; Birdie Sponsors ($11,000, one player) include Georgia-Pacific, Pepsico, P&G and Sara Lee. Hole Sponsors ($2,500, no players) are Marriott International, MBM Distribution, and Sodexo. Once again, the media sponsor is Nation’s Restaurant News and our cigar sponsor is CAO Cigars. Registration fees cover three days of golf at Sawgrass Country Club, TPC Sawgrass Stadium and Valley courses; three nights’ accommodations at Marriott Sawgrass Golf Resort & Spa; and meals. Costs are $3,750 for individual golfers, $5,750 for golfing couples, and $4,750 for non-golfing couples.
