National Restaurant Association Attends White House Meeting on Immigration Reform September 1, 2009 President Obama asked the NRA for support on comprehensive immigration reform during a White House meeting discussing future immigration reform. Comprehensive immigration reform is a top priority for the NRA, and the White House and Department of Homeland Security have recognized the NRA's leadership on the issue. The NRA is building relationships with the key influencers in Congress as well as working closely with the Administration, advocacy groups and others in the business community to move this issue forward. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano led the meeting, which included representatives from law enforcement, labor organizations, the interfaith community and immigration advocates. The President noted that this issue, much like health care, is controversial and asked that the groups at the meeting work together to draft legislation and support its passage. |
