National Restaurant Association Political Action Committee (NRA-PAC)

The National Restaurant Association Political Action Committee (NRA-PAC) was formed in 1977 with the mission of making the United States Congress not only pro-business but also pro-restaurant.

In the years since then, NRA-PAC has met the challenge by raising personal, voluntary contributions from the Association's membership. In return, NRA-PAC has supported candidates for federal public office who have demonstrated support of the concerns of the restaurant industry. At the same time, NRA-PAC has developed programs to encourage these members of Congress to become involved in the attainment of the political and legislative goals set forth by the Association and the restaurant industry.

The NRA-PAC has a four-point contribution criteria test to evaluate the commitment of a candidate to the values of the restaurant industry:

  1. Voting Record. Does the candidate support our industry through votes and cosponsorships on helpful legislation?
  2. Electibility. Does the candidate have a realistic chance of winning the race?
  3. Accessibility. Has the candidate made an effort to reach out to the restaurant industry on the local level or met with Public Affairs Conference attendees?
  4. Need. What is the candidate's current cash-on-hand? Is this amount sufficient to run an effective campaign in that particular district? Does the candidate have credible opposition?

Want to learn more about your National Restaurant Association PAC? Before we can ask for a donation or tell you more about the NRA-PAC, the Federal Election Commission requires that we receive your permission in writing. Please download, sign and return the prior authorization form to receive in-depth information and news of upcoming NRA-PAC fund raising events.

Lastly, special consideration will be granted to any restaurateur or member of the restaurant industry who is seeking federal public office.

The Federal Election Commission governs all contributions to the NRA-PAC. Federal law states that an individual may contribute up to $5,000 per calendar year. For more information about the NRA-PAC, contact Ned Monroe or Casey Stanford at (800) 424-5156.
