Connect Your Students — And Yourself!
• Start by getting a faculty membership in the National Restaurant Association. Annual dues are just $95, and give you 24/7 access to the award-winning information resources of the National Restaurant Association. • Help your students find scholarships. Since 1997, the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation alone has provided more than $6 million in scholarships to students and educators pursuing careers or continuing their education in the restaurant and foodservice industry. Find out more about bringing the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation's ProStart® (high school) curriculum and ManageFirst^TM (college) curriculum to your school. • The state restaurant association in your state is another terrific way to connect with sources of scholarship funding, restaurant-industry information, and industry mentors. • If you are a high school teacher, find out more about the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation’s ProStart Program, a nationwide system of restaurant and foodservice courses linked with mentored work-site experiences that puts students on paths for careers in the restaurant and foodservice industry. Currently more than 45,000 high school juniors and seniors participate in the ProStart program in more than 1,100 schools in 45 states and territories. • The National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation offers ProStart® Teacher Training and Development Awards to help ProStart teachers complement their classroom time with hands-on work experience. • The National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation also invites secondary and post-secondary restaurant/foodservice educators to take part in the NRAEF Summer Institutes -- intensive workshops focused on providing varying levels of skills training to educators pursuing professional development within the restaurant and foodservice industry. Participants completing all three levels of instruction and meeting all other requirements are eligible to apply for the Certified Secondary Foodservice Educator certificate.
